Introduction

This blog is about the Age of Imperialism which followed the Industrial Revolution. The Age of Imperialism was a time in which powerful countries controlled other weaker countries for power and economic gain. This chapter discusses the reasons for Imperialism and the countries that participated. It also talks about the areas in which Imperialism happened such as Africa and Asia. This chapter also deals with the effects of Imperialism on the native people who were being conquered.

In this blog I hope to demonstrate the knowledge I have gained in this chapter and to please Maz.

Essential Question:
Did imperialism benefit the countries that were controlled at all?
I believe that imperialism did not benefit the controlled countries at all. The countries that were controlled were just abused for their resources and economic gains for the controlling country. Most of the people who lived in the controlled countries were treated harshly such as the rubber workers in the Congo. Also the culture of these countries was destroyed and replaced with the culture of the controlling country. The countries that fell victim to imperialism would have been much better off without it.
